Protect the next adventure
Winterization for the water, the trail and the road.
Looking for boat winterization or jet ski winterization near you? Bring your seasonal service to our Pleasant Grove shop. We help Utah County owners prepare machines for the months they sit unused, with work matched to the vehicle and how it will be stored.
Boat, jet ski & vehicle shrink wrapping
Heavy-duty protection for the months it sits.
R1 installs thick protective boat shrink-wrap material on boats, jet skis, personal watercraft and any other vehicle. If you need a vehicle wrapped for seasonal protection, send its dimensions and photos so we can plan the installation.
A 15-foot boat costs $405 for shrink-wrap installation (15 × $27). We’ll confirm the vehicle length and total quote before installation. Mechanical winterization is quoted separately.
Pair shrink wrapping with the appropriate winterization service before storage. Protective wrapping does not replace the engine, fuel, battery or water-system preparation your machine needs. Discuss storage location, ventilation, support and any access needs with our team when requesting your quote.

Meet Riley Erickson • Owner & founder
He rides.
He builds.
He expects it done right.
The work starts with Riley’s standards. He learned to love working on things alongside his dad, a military mechanic who could fix just about anything. After retiring from the military, his dad now works with the R1 team. That lesson stayed with Riley: understand the problem, care about the details and do the job correctly.
As a husband, dad and rider, Riley knows what it means when a machine lets you down. He built R1 to help people enjoy the trails, the water, the outdoors and time with their families.
Quality still matters.
An honest day’s work still means something.
The R1 standard
Done right.
Checked three times.
A torque wrench. The correct specification. A visible mark on every serviced fastener. Those details tell the next inspector exactly what was touched and what to check. Riley expects every completed repair to pass through three people, with each inspection building on the last.
Torqued to spec. Marked. Checked again.
1. The technician
The technician completes the work, uses torque wrenches to tighten serviced bolts to specification, then marks the nuts and bolts. Before handing the machine off, the technician inspects their own work and checks the details of the repair.
2. The shop manager
Our shop manager meticulously audits the completed work. Every bolt touched gets checked, torque is verified again, and the marks show exactly where to look. Detailed photos are added to your service record to document the work and inspection before the next handoff.
3. The service writer
Our service writer goes out to the machine for a final inspection. If anything falls short, it goes back to the shop for correction. We invest the extra time, money and effort because riders deserve work done right the first time.
The R1 story
From a basement workbench
to a shop built for you.
From daily shock rebuilds in his garage to a 20,000-square-foot facility in Pleasant Grove, Riley built R1 around careful work and standing behind it. Take a look inside the shop, meet the team and see the space built to welcome your machine.
The basement
Riley starts R1 building LED light whips, earning trust through quality and standing behind his work.
The garage
Daily whip pickups and daily shock rebuilds turn his home garage into a busy shop.
The Lindon warehouse
A 5,800-square-foot space makes room for growth. R1 spends five years here and expands into dyno tuning.
Pleasant Grove
A 20,000-square-foot facility, plenty of parking and easy trailer access. Riley is here every day.
Meet the rider, dad and builder behind R1.
Riley Erickson is a former USA Junior Olympic champion and college baseball player. The drive that shaped him as an athlete still shapes how he runs R1: pay attention to the details, hold a high standard and do the work correctly the first time.
His dad was an exceptionally capable mechanic who served in the military as a mechanic. Growing up working alongside him, Riley learned to love understanding how things work, finding what is wrong and fixing it properly. After retiring from the military, his dad now works with the R1 team. He also spent many years running Wedding Cakes by Dawna in Utah, bringing extensive business experience alongside his mechanical knowledge.
Today, Riley is a husband and dad who loves camping with his family of five. He hunts, fishes, farms, boats, jet skis and rides dirt bikes. He owns three UTVs, enjoys yard work and cares deeply about having equipment that works the way it should. Helping other riders enjoy those same hobbies is what makes this business personal.
Riley started R1 Industries in his basement in 2016, building LED light whips. His attention to detail and product quality helped the business grow quickly. He earned customers’ trust by standing behind those early whips with a no-questions-asked warranty, covering what happened to them.
In 2018, the business moved into the garage of his new home. Customers came by every day to pick up whips, while Riley rebuilt shocks daily. By 2020, the business needed a 5,800-square-foot warehouse in Lindon. R1 operated there for five years and had outgrown the space within the first two.
Riley’s love of speed also led him to open a full dyno shop, where machines were tuned day after day. R1 eventually moved into a 20,000-square-foot facility in Pleasant Grove, in the heart of Utah County, with plenty of parking and easy trailer access.
Riley is at R1 every day, working with a team he considers his best friends. He is demanding about the quality of their work because your machine matters. Corners do not get cut. The final work goes through a detailed process with three people checking it off.
R1 exists to prove that quality still matters and an honest day’s work still means something. That is the standard Riley brings to the shop, the team and every customer relationship.

Boat winterization
Finish lake season with a plan for freezing weather.
Whether your last trip was to Utah Lake, Deer Creek or Jordanelle, winter preparation starts with the systems on your particular boat. An engine, exhaust, ballast system and onboard plumbing can have different storage requirements. A cover alone does not prepare those systems.
Tell us more than the boat’s make.
Include the year, model, engine make and type, number of engines and any freshwater or ballast equipment. If you are unsure what is fitted, send photos. We will confirm supported work and the scope before you arrange drop-off.
Build the service around your boat.
Depending on the manufacturer’s procedure and the approved work, preparation may involve draining or protecting applicable water circuits, treating fuel, checking fluids, battery preparation and corrosion protection. Maintenance due and existing leaks or running problems should be discussed separately so they are included in the plan.
Jet ski & PWC winterization
Small watercraft. Model-specific details.
Sea-Doo, Yamaha WaveRunner and Kawasaki Jet Ski owners need a storage procedure that matches their machine. Fuel preparation, battery care, lubrication and applicable cooling or exhaust work help address the risks of extended storage.
A closed-loop cooling system is only part of the picture.
Some personal watercraft have closed-loop engine cooling while other components still encounter raw water. We base the service discussion on your exact model rather than assuming every PWC needs the same treatment.
Already dealing with a no-start, overheating or loss of thrust? Include that in your request. Our jet ski and PWC repair service covers diagnosis separately from routine storage preparation.
For model-specific storage guidance, consult your owner’s manual. Sea-Doo also provides an owner’s guide to PWC winterization.
UTV, ATV & motorcycle storage preparation
Put the rest of your powersports lineup on the schedule.
Ready for the off-season
Discuss fuel, battery, applicable coolant protection, lubrication and maintenance due before extended storage. If you ride through winter, ask for seasonal service suited to continued use instead.
Store it with care
Storage preparation depends on the engine, fuel system and conditions where the ATV will sit. Tell us about starting issues or stale fuel before the appointment.
Plan for the next ride
Two-stroke and four-stroke bikes, carbureted and fuel-injected machines can need different preparation. Battery care, fuel planning and manufacturer-specified storage steps matter.
When should I winterize my boat or jet ski in Utah?
Plan winterization after your final outing and before freezing temperatures reach the place where you store it. Book ahead rather than waiting for a freeze warning. Tell us if you plan to use the machine again before storage.
How much does boat or PWC winterization cost?
The quote depends on the year, make, model, engine configuration, water systems and maintenance due. Send those details, where it will be stored and whether you need multiple machines serviced. R1 will confirm the scope and pricing before work begins.
What is included in winterization?
Your service plan is based on the manufacturer’s storage procedure and the systems fitted to your machine. It may include fuel preparation, applicable cooling and exhaust system preparation, battery care, lubrication, fluid service and an inspection. Ask for the specific inclusions in your quote.
Do Sea-Doo, WaveRunner and Kawasaki Jet Ski models need the same procedure?
No. Cooling systems, exhaust systems, engines and storage procedures differ. A closed-loop cooling system does not mean every water-containing component is protected. Send the exact year and model so we can confirm the appropriate service.
Does a covered boat or garage-stored PWC still need winterization?
A cover does not protect water left inside a system from freezing. An unheated garage can also freeze. Even where temperature is controlled, long-term storage can still require fuel, battery and corrosion preparation. Tell us your storage conditions.
Can you winterize UTVs, ATVs, dirt bikes and motorcycles too?
Yes. R1 offers seasonal storage preparation for powersports vehicles as well as boats and personal watercraft. Off-road and street machines need a plan appropriate to their fuel system, cooling system, battery and storage duration.
Is winterization the same as shrink wrapping or winter storage?
No. Winterization prepares the machine’s mechanical systems for storage. Shrink wrapping, a cover and a storage space serve different purposes. R1 also installs heavy-duty protective shrink wrap at $27 per linear foot. Winterization and wrap installation are quoted separately. Ask about your storage plans when booking.
Can I drop off a boat and two jet skis together?
Tell our service team the details of each machine and your trailer setup. We will confirm supported work, scheduling and drop-off arrangements before you bring them to the shop.
What should I do if my boat or jet ski may already have frozen?
Tell our service team before attempting to start it. A machine with suspected freeze damage or an existing running problem needs inspection; a winterization appointment should not be treated as a repair diagnosis.
