CW Motorsports Warranty & Core Return Guide

Before and after your purchase

Know your coverage. Plan your core return.

A clear guide to manufacturer coverage, your R1 deposit, and the steps for sending the old assembly back.

Manufacturer warranty at a glance

Product Published coverage
Polaris / Can-Am engines Six-month no-fault manufacturer warranty
Honda / Kawasaki / Yamaha engines Six-month limited manufacturer warranty
Transmissions / differentials 90-day limited manufacturer warranty

These periods follow CW’s current published warranty information. Check the supplied warranty documents and your specific product before ordering.

What the warranty does—and does not—cover

CW handles approved covered repairs to the supplied assembly. Coverage belongs to the original purchaser and does not transfer with the machine. Removal and installation labor are excluded. Damage associated with performance tuning, aftermarket modifications or improper calibration can void coverage, as can unauthorized repair or tampering.

Contact R1/CW as soon as an issue appears and obtain claim approval before arranging work. The free initial replacement shipment and prepaid core return are not a promise of free freight for every warranty claim. Confirm warranty freight instructions during the claim process.

Your R1 deposit and the supplier core rules

The imported R1 listings currently include a $500 core deposit in the displayed price. Read the refund wording on the exact product. CW’s possible charges for a damaged or missing core vary by assembly and engine model; the amount of the deposit is not a guarantee that every damaged or missing core can be accepted without another charge.

If you know your old unit is damaged, incomplete or unavailable, contact R1 before ordering for a complete quote. Some engines must be rebuilt from your original core.

Assembly Good reusable core Bad core No returned core
Transmission $0 supplier core charge $500 supplier core charge $1,000 supplier core charge
Differential $0 supplier core charge $50 supplier core charge $500 supplier core charge
Engine $0 supplier core charge Varies by make/model Polaris: $1,500; other makes require confirmation

These supplier amounts are published in CW’s core policy. They are not an extra blanket deposit added to every R1 order.

Differential refunds after inspection

For differentials, R1 refunds the $500 deposit after CW receives and inspects the core, less applicable supplier charges. A good core returned on time with the original foam packaging qualifies for the full refund. A bad core carries a $50 charge; no returned core carries a $500 charge.

CW also lists a $100 charge for missing foam packaging and a 5% nonrefundable processing fee on core charges/refunds assessed by CW. Applicable supplier charges can reduce the refundable balance. Keep the original container and foam.

How to return an exchange core

  • Retain the protective container and foam from the replacement shipment.
  • Drain all fluids from the old assembly and package it securely.
  • Contact R1 for prepaid core-return arrangements; do not arrange an unapproved return address.
  • Ship the old core within 10 business days of receiving the replacement.
  • Keep the tracking details while CW receives the core and completes any required inspection.

Core-first engines and ordinary product returns

If your engine uses your existing core for rebuilding, arrange that shipment before expecting a replacement. Read the core-first ordering guide for the process.

A core shipment is different from returning the product you purchased. Initial replacement shipping and core-return shipping are included in the lower 48 states. That does not establish the freight or restocking terms for a canceled order, ordinary product return or warranty claim. Contact R1 before returning anything other than the arranged core.
