Product shown: Packard Apollo Midnight beadlock wheel for Can-Am Maverick R. This is an individual wheel component; tire choice and complete-assembly fitment are separate checks.

Before choosing paddle tires for a Can-Am Maverick R, check whether the car has 15- or 16-inch wheels. The answer changes with model year, trim and seating configuration. Packard offers Maverick R-specific 15-inch dune wheels, so a car with factory 16-inch wheels needs a complete wheel-and-tire decision when moving to those options.

From there, compare standard Sand Light with specific Big Foot choices, choose the front tire's role, and account for the car's normal passenger-and-gear load. The Maverick R's six-lug hubs and seven-speed DCT make this a different buying conversation from a Maverick X3.

Which wheels came on your Maverick R?

These North American factory examples help identify your starting point. Check the wheels actually on your car, especially if it was bought used or already has a sand setup.

On a small screen, swipe or scroll the table sideways to see all columns.

Selected Maverick R factory tire and wheel configurations
Model year and trim Front and rear tires Factory wheels
2024 two-seat base and X 30x10-15 ITP Tenacity XNR 15-inch flow-formed aluminum
2024 X rs, including Smart-Shox 32x10-16 ITP Tenacity XNR 16-inch flow-formed beadlock
2025 two-seat base and X 30x10-15 ITP Tenacity XNR 15-inch flow-formed aluminum
2025 MAX X 32x10-16 ITP Tenacity XNR 16-inch flow-formed aluminum
2026 two-seat X / X rs 32x10-16 ITP XNR Tenacity 16-inch flow-formed; beadlock on X rs
2026 X rc 35x10-16 XPS Hammer King 16-inch flow-formed beadlock
2027 X rs 32x10-16 ITP XNR Tenacity 16-inch flow-formed beadlock

The easy one to miss is 2025 X versus 2025 MAX X: the two-seat X has a 15-inch factory wheel, while MAX X has a 16-inch wheel. The two-seat X moves to 16 inches for 2026. “Maverick R X” alone is not enough information to select a tire.

Can you use 15-inch dune wheels on a Maverick R?

Packard's Maverick R lineup includes 15x7 and 15x11 wheels in 6x139.7 mm, also written 6x5.5 inches. R1's Apollo Midnight Maverick R beadlock is one example with both widths available as selectable configurations.

If your car currently has 16-inch wheels, a 15-inch-bead Packard tire will need a matching 15-inch wheel. If it already has 15-inch wheels, verify their width and the tire's approved rim-width range before deciding to reuse them.

The exact wheel also needs to clear the Maverick R's brakes and tall-knuckle suspension. Can-Am lists 265-mm front and 255-mm rear brake discs on the 2024 models above. Packard's platform-specific offering gives you a relevant place to shop, but diameter and bolt pattern alone cannot establish caliper, barrel or spoke clearance. Include any brake, hub or suspension changes in the fitment check.

Use the Maverick R wheel collection for six-lug candidates. Maverick X3 wheels follow a separate four-lug application, even when the wheel design looks the same.

Which paddle tires are worth comparing?

Stock Maverick R: begin with standard Sand Light

Packard Sand Light rear paddles make a useful first comparison for a stock Maverick R. Packard positions the standard family for stock through moderately increased power, using a 1 1/16-inch paddle. Compare its exact mounted size and assembly weight with the Big Foot option you are considering.

Want a larger carcass? Compare Big Foot

The Big Foot rear range offers several sizes and paddle configurations. The Big Foot Sport 34x15-15 is a specific option to put alongside Sand Light: Packard describes a genuine 34x15-inch carcass, a 1 1/16-inch paddle and a manufacturer-listed 35-lb uncut tire weight.

Packard's Sport power guidance is 175–350 wheel horsepower. The Maverick R's factory 240-hp engine rating does not provide its WHP. Keep the measurement basis clear rather than calculating a guessed drivetrain-loss percentage to select a paddle.

Modified cars: discuss HO with the power details in hand

Big Foot HO is Packard's higher-output choice, with current manufacturer guidance of 250-plus WHP and a taller 1 5/16-inch paddle. Bring the tune, fuel and actual power measurement into that decision. The factory engine rating alone does not establish a match.

Our comp-cut guide covers cutting eligibility and the separate weight, terrain and durability tradeoffs.

Keep the Maverick R's DCT in the conversation

The Maverick R uses a seven-speed Rotax dual-clutch transmission. The 2025 MAX X, for example, has high and extra-low ranges. A paddle recommendation built around another vehicle's CVT belt, clutch weights or springs cannot simply be copied onto this car.

Tell R1 whether the drivetrain and calibration are stock, what tires the car currently turns and whether the goal is dune exploring, flowing turns or power-focused climbs. If a tire change calls for drivetrain advice, get guidance for the exact Maverick R setup. A generic promise of better CVT belt life does not explain the benefit on a DCT vehicle.

MAX and X rc owners have different starting points

For a MAX, include the normal passenger load. The 2025 MAX X is listed at an estimated 2,640 lb dry, before people, fuel and riding gear. A tire choice that feels right on a lightly loaded two-seat car is not enough evidence for the same choice on your four-seat build. Check the selected tire and wheel load capacities for the actual car; the cargo rack's rating does not answer that question.

For an X rc, separate stock tire height from paddle fitment. The 2026 X rc starts with 35x10-16 rock tires and 18 inches of listed ground clearance. A wider sand paddle on a different rim creates a different assembly. Check it through steering and suspension travel rather than treating the factory 35-inch number as clearance approval.

Choose how the front tires work

A ribbed Big Foot front steer is the steering-focused design to compare. Packard Stitch adds angled front paddles intended to contribute traction in four-wheel-drive sand use. Choose the front role alongside the rear tire and the way you use the Maverick R's Smart-Lok system.

Have the mounted front and rear rolling circumferences checked together, and choose a 15-inch-bead front for the 15-inch wheels discussed here.

Put together your Maverick R dune order

Start with these details when narrowing the Packard tires and Maverick R wheels:

  • Year, full trim and two-seat or MAX configuration
  • Current tire sizes and wheel diameter, width and offset
  • Stock or modified engine and DCT calibration, plus the basis of any horsepower figure
  • Normal passenger-and-gear load and any hub, brake or suspension changes
  • Preferred front-tire design, candidate rear tires, riding terrain and trip timing

Call R1 at 801-899-2520 or text your setup to work through the candidate combination. The linked products are separate tires and wheels; check the selected configurations, quantities and mounting arrangements for your order.
